I was able to write in my journal: I am grateful for breath and the recognition that I am here, alive. Breathing. I am grateful for life. And for this time alone. In this moment I have to do nothing. Yes, there are many things that need to get done, but in this moment I have to do nothing. Sitting in my favorite place on earth. I let the trees remind me how to be: still.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD ONE of those days when you know you’ve got three important calls to return, a list of e-mails longer than the Great Wall of China, and 5,000 errands that are not going to run themselves? So I stopped. Everything. For one day I just stopped. Didn’t interview anybody. Or take any phone calls. Or return any e-mails. I stopped doing in order to return to the being of myself.

I’ve been Doing. Doing. Doing. How about this: I AM OVERWHELMED! As a teacher, too many answers that need to come from me. Trying to do too many things at once. Trying to read every page before it goes to print on my facebook page. Trying to run a business. Flying back and forth from Chicago to California to New York. Doing. Doing. Doing.

Get the most out of life… live richly!

Went to his favorite place on earth. I sat in silence. I prayed. I meditated. I napped. And stopped giving my attention to what wasn’t working. I watched the sun move across the sky. I went inside and filled a bowl with lemon sorbet and fresh strawberries purchased at the farmers’ market that morning. I savored every spoonful, then licked the spoon. …That was an aha moment for me — to experience how a ‘small’ act can have a huge impact. I know for sure: Any act of appreciation affirms our connection to each other. Validates us. Expands who we are in the world. Deepens our sprit. And can turn an ordinary moment into an extraordinary and praiseful day.

I’M ONE OF THE BLESSED ones. I get paid-highly-for being myself and for doing what I most enjoy; sharing ideas with other people. I live a big life. But in reality it’s the small things that fill me up. A LITTLE NEWS FLASH, people, in case you hadn’t heard; Small is the new big. You need look no futher then my facebook page!

Proof of growing old gracefullly. I’m sitting in my favorite spot on earth underneath the oaks in my yard on a summer day chillin’ with my dogs. I know for sure, that life is full of delightful treasures if you only take a moment to look around. So, i decided to actually do that. I went on a pleasure quest with my camera and found that wisdom remains true, I didn’t have to look any further than my own backyard.
